Angel Tree at Burney Library

The Burney Elementary School (BES) Angel Tree Gift Drive, led by Community Connect Coordinator Amber Estes, brought the community together in a big way this year. Local businesses hosted Angel Trees where community members could choose an ornament, scan the QR code, and shop from a child’s wish list. Gifts were shipped directly to Amber for wrapping and delivery prep. The trees went up on November 1, and by Friday, November 21, every single wish list had been fulfilled! Thanks to this incredible support, 120 children who might have gone without will now have gifts this Christmas.

Amber also maintains a food pantry and a care closet stocked with hygiene items, and she’s currently seeking donations of gently used sporting equipment. Every item collected goes straight to the kids.

Shasta Public Libraries Awarded National Carnegie Anniversary Gift

Shasta Public Libraries is proud to share that we are among the Carnegie Libraries selected to receive a $10,000 gift from Carnegie Corporation of New York in celebration of the United States’ 250th anniversary. This nationwide initiative honors Andrew Carnegie’s legacy and supports the civic mission of the libraries he helped establish more than a century ago. We look forward to using this special gift in 2026 to further our work, celebrate our community, and continue offering welcoming spaces for learning and connection.
