A Fresh Look!

The Redding Library’s Community Room just got a beautiful upgrade—come take a peek at the brand-new flooring! This is the same flooring that is extended throughout the entire library as part of our ongoing renovations. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back into the refreshed space. Stay tuned—an opening date will be announced soon!

Season of Thanks

This fall, all of us here at Shasta Public Libraries want to express our gratitude to all of our patrons and local businesses who have supported and assisted with the Redding Library renovation. We appreciate your patience as we work to create a fresh and welcoming space for you, our valued patrons!

North State Giving Tuesday

The Shasta Library Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing the Shasta Public Libraries—today and for generations to come. Through community fundraising, the Foundation provides vital resources beyond the library’s budget, including new technology, special programs, and updated materials.

With community support, the Foundation helps make the libraries more than a place to borrow books—they become spaces for creativity, education, and connection. The Foundation is deeply grateful to all who continue to make these opportunities possible for the community.

Support Your Libraries: Volunteer with the Friends of Shasta County Libraries

The Friends of Shasta County Libraries (FOSCL) are passionate community members who make a real difference for our local libraries every day. For more than 40 years, this all-volunteer nonprofit has worked to promote, support, and enhance library programs, resources, and partnerships across Shasta County.

Volunteering is easy and flexible—give as much time as you can! Visit the link below to sign up or learn more.

What They Do

FOSCL plays a key role in keeping our libraries vibrant and well-resourced by:
  • Funding beloved programs like the Summer Reading Program
  • Operating the Friends Bookstore inside the Redding Library
  • Hosting monthly book sales to raise funds for new resources and events
  • Offering membership and leadership opportunities for community involvement
Every book sold or hour volunteered helps fund free programs, literacy initiatives, and materials that benefit readers of all ages.

What You Can Do

Volunteering with the Friends is a fun and rewarding way to give back. Whether you help in the bookstore, sort donations, assist at sales, or serve on the board, your time directly supports Shasta Public Libraries.
It’s also a great way to:
  • Meet fellow book lovers and community advocates
  • Support literacy and lifelong learning
  • Make a tangible impact on local programs and services.
