Placing an Obituary Request

To place an obituary request and/or research request

Please send us a written letter with your request.

You must include:

1. a self-addressed stamped envelope
2. the name of the person or event you need us to research
3. the date of death or the date of the event in Shasta County, California you need us to research

Due to lack of indexing, we must have an exact date. 

Photocopies of newspaper articles are 25 ¢ per page. Donations are appreciated. Please make any checks out to City of Redding.

Requests are processed by volunteers. Please allow several weeks for us to process your request as the schedule of our volunteers is unpredictable.

The local newspaper, the Record Searchlight, is indexed and available online from 3/10/1991-present. However, you must have a Shasta Public Libraries library card to access this database.
