COVID-19 Measures & Curbside

All branches are open scheduled hours

Due to the increase of COVID-19 cases in Shasta County, all Shasta Public Libraries branches are taking measures to help limit spread.

But that does not mean we are not here for you!

We will be open regular hours, but with restrictions in place (see below). Many events and services are offered online including online programs, online eResources, free Wifi, take home kits, and grab-bags.

Holds Curbside Pick-Up

The following branches will be offering Holds Curbside Pick-Up:

Redding

  • Monday-Friday 9-10am

Restrictions in place in libraries

  • Due to Shasta County's recent placement in the Widespread/Purple Tier of the State of California's Blueprint for a Safer Economy, the library is requiring all patrons to wear masks without exception.
  • In order to maintain social distancing and minimize risk, we are limiting patrons to one-hour visits.
  • Capacity limits are in place at all branches
    Anderson 20; Burney 22; Redding 90

How to do Curbside:

  1. Request what you need online through our catalog.
    Log in with your library card number and PIN, find your next items, and place them on hold. You can have up to 15 holds at a time.
  2. Wait for us to contact you.
    When your items are ready, you'll get a notification from us — by email, text message, or phone call, depending on how your library notices are set up. You can check your holds requests here to see the status.
  3. Pick-up your items.
    Pull up in front of the Library during curbside hours and give us a call. Be sure to have your library card handy. We'll meet you at the gate with your items for contactless delivery.
  4. Use our Book Drops to return.
    All done reading? Drop your returning items in our book drops, available 24 hrs a day/7 days a week.

What does the Hold Status mean?

  • Pending: your hold was placed and we're getting it ready.
  • Active: someone else has your item and you're in line to get it. You'll see a number that indicates where you are in the queue.
  • Shipped: it's coming from another branch and it's on its way.
  • Held: it's ready to pick up!

Book Quarantine

  • All returning items are quarantined for 4 days.
  • At the end of the quarantine, items are checked in with the date they were returned.
