Summer Reading is available for kids, teens and Adults!
This year's theme is "Groundbreaking Reads." What awaits your discovery this summer? Dig in to a good book and find out. We hope you will enjoy the variety of adult and family programs offered this summer. Happy reading!
How do you sign up for our Adult Summer Reading Program?
Sign up starting June 10th.
- You must be age 18 or over
- You must have a Shasta Public Libraries' library card
- Sign up in person at your local branch.
How do you play?
Drawings for Prizes
Read or listen to a book, turn in your Book Log, and be entered in drawings for fun prizes throughout June and July.
Book Bingo
Have fun with reading, outdoor activities, and various other stuff to fill in the squares. Prizes will be awarded at a drawing at the end of July.
Quizzes
Complete any of our fun quizzes and enter it for a chance at a prize. Prizes will be awarded at a drawing at the end of July.

Come knit/crochet bags using recycled materials and donated supplies. Beginners welcome. (9 and up).

Hiking at Whiskeytown
Enjoy nature and learn about the archaeology and history of our local area. Mt. Shasta Mine Hike - Tues, June 18 @ 5:00 pm
Hike the Mt. Shasta Mine trail with a stop at the actual old mine shaft. (13 & up) Tower House District Hike and Gold Panning - Thur, June 27 @ 10:00 am
Hike the Camden House Trail with a stop to do some gold panning. Suitable for children.

Shasta County Rocks and Minerals
Join Steve Puderbaugh for a presentation on rock collecting in Shasta County.

Kayaking at Whiskeytown Lake
Join a ranger led kayak tour of the quiet coves around Whiskeytown Lake, and learn about the town under the lake. Children must be accompanied by parent/guardian. All participants must know how to swim. (7th grade and up)
