Place a Hold

Is the book/item you want already checked out, or is it at one of the other branches?

Simply place a hold. 

When it is returned it will be placed aside and you will be notified to come pick it up.

Things to know

  • Items are kept waiting for you on the Holds Shelf for one week.
  • Make sure that your Contact Information is correct, so that you get the notification that the item is ready for pick up.
  • You can be contacted in different ways. What works for you? Mail, email, text or phone.
  • You may have up to 15 books on hold at one time.
  • Please, check out the item. The item is on the Holds Shelf ready for you to pick up and check out.
  • A $2 unclaimed holds fee will be charged if the hold is not checked out within the 7 days.
    (If you are unable to pick up the hold please contact us during those 7 days.)

Place a Hold Online

Placing a hold online is quick and easy, and can save you a trip to the library.

  • Click the "Catalog" link at the top of this page to go to our Library Catalog.
  • Use the search field to find the book or item.
  • Once you find the book, click on the "Place Hold" button on the right.
  • Enter your Library Card Number, and PIN to log in. Before you click Submit Request, select which library you want to pick the item up at.
    • The Library Card Number - the 14 digit number underneath the barcode on the back of your library card (Type number in with no spaces) show me.
    • The PIN - a 4 digit number given when you received your library card. Forgot your PIN? Contact us and we can change it for you.
  • If someone else has a hold on the book, go ahead and place the hold to be put in the queue.
  • The Hold has been placed.
    Check that your Contact Information is correct.
    If it is wrong please contact us and we can change it for you.
    This is how we tell you your hold is available.
  • The Library will email, text, call or mail you when the item is ready to be picked up and checked out.
