Book Drops Home DeliveryBook Drops Logo

Operated in partnership with Senior Corps, Book Drops is a volunteer-based program designed to deliver library services to homebound seniors. Those who wish to participate can sign up to receive various library materials in addition to weekly companionship visits. Volunteers are paired up with a participant partner and committed to a weekly schedule.

View the Library's policy on this program here.

Patron Participants

Patrons who are eligible for the Book Drops program will include those who are age 55+ and generally confined to their residence either temporarily, due to illness or accident; or permanently, due to age, unreliable transport, disability or other mobility problems.

Patrons requesting Home Delivery services must provide a safe and appropriate environment for all volunteers who make deliveries to their homes and patrons must protect all Library materials while in their custody.

Patrons must have a Library account in good standing and complete the online Home Delivery Application to qualify for this service. A paper version of this application is available here.

Delivery Schedule

The schedule of delivery is up to the availability of the patron and delivery volunteer to coordinate, with a minimum requirement of one visit per week. At the time that new materials are delivered, the items from the previous delivery will be retrieved and returned to the Library.

Materials Available for Delivery

All formats of materials are eligible for home delivery, providing they are not designated for in-house use only (i.e. Chromebooks, reference titles, etc.). Each delivery will be limited to five items.

Specialty items featured for this program include:
  • Large Type Books
  • Braille/Talking Book
  • Audio CDs/Playaways
  • Magazines
  • DVDs
