Understanding the Bibliographies

The tribal bibliographies consist of citations to materials pertaining to each of the specific tribes. The citations are arranged alphabetically by author; multiple works by the same author(s) are in alphabetical order by title. Works that were produced under editorial direction, or in which the author is unknown, are entered under title.

The following sample citations represent the eight types most often found in the bibliographies. Each sample includes an explanation of the components of that citation.
